This pen is awesome!
This is a large Leonardo Momento Zero Grande fountain pen commissioned by Stilograph Corsini in 2024. The pens are now sold out.
Considerable thought went into its design and materials. The black barrel and cap are resin, whereas the colourful contrasting orange/yellow cap bands, section and piston knob are made of rare celluloid acetate (which limited the number of pens that could be made). The clip and trim are gold plated.
The nib is huge - a #8 matte gold coloured titanium nib and the feed is ebonite. This pen was only available with a fine CSI tip -which I understand is a cursive stub italic. I have included a photo of a writing sample. The nib definately has an italic grind - which requires some skill in penmanship to use and get the best out of. Line variation comes easily through the nib shape and with pressure on the nib, because the nib is soft. mastery of this nib will give enormous satisfaction I think, but it is beyond my skill level!
The pen is piston filled, from a bottle of ink, and it holds a significant 1.5ml, a good job as I found the nib to be a fairly wet writer.
The pen is presented in the original outer and inner boxes, with hang tag and bottle of black Leonardo ink.
