Custom Made Parker Duofold Senior Fountain Pen By Chris Thompson
This is a very unusual, but rather wonderful, custom made fountain pen by Chris Thompson who is located in the USA.
I have dealt with Chris several times in the past. His design ethos is around creating replicas of vintage pens, using both modern materials and colours for the barrel and cap, and original vintage parts such as the nib, feed, filling system clip and cap rings.
This is a replica of a Parker Duofold Senior from the 1930s. The pen measures just over 14cms when capped and is light but fairly sizeable!
The clip is an original vintage clip, and is perfectly functional. It is stamped “Parker” and “AT.SEP 5-16”. There is a wide cap band which has a some brassing to it.
The cap and barrel are made of an opaque black/white/yellow striped material. The barrel is imprinted “Duofold Lucky Curve Replica 2002 Geo S Parker Fountain Pen Janesville WIS USA Pat 3-05 APR 11-05 APR 25-12 JUN 4-12”. The cap screws on smoothly to the barrel.
The pen is a button filler, and a new sac has been installed.
The nib is an original vintage Parker Duofold oversize nib, stamped “Parker Duofold PEN Canada ”. It has been smoothed and fettled by Thomas Ang, an excellent uK based nib expert. The nib writes a smooth fine line. The feed is an original Parker lucky curve Christmas tree feed. The nib may look slightly odd. That is because the actual nib is huge! It needed to be set more deeply than usual into the section to ensure it fitted within the cap. This does not interfere with function.
This pen is a fantastic replica of an iconic model, made by an artisan custom pen maker.
